He we have The “Strike” Bowling shoes by Mod Shoes, and yes in all white. Had a few requests for these.
When we very first started Mod Shoes we was asked for “Chisel Toe” bowling shoes, like the ones from the 80’s, the type Shelleys used to sell. It has taken this long to find a good supplier, and also get as close as possible to the shape. This style of design is only available from Mod Shoes
Notice that the front is much slimmer and less rounded than other bowling shoes on the market. And copied from a pair from the 80s.
Also we wanted to do a good bowling shoe, so the leather upper is super soft, and supple. Literally no wearing in ! The sole has an extra grip piece added at the front. So if you are wearing these out and about, you aren’t going to slip over (But if you do, you cant sue Mod Shoes)!
Sizing
Stick with size, unless you are super wide fitting. The design means they are more suitable to normal width, but a sizer bigger doesnt look big. We have had some back for being too big, please note that the leather is super soft, so if in between sizes, go down, not up. I am wideish 8.5 in my right foot, and an 8 was very good for me.
Upper: Leather
Sole : Man Made

Got these in White and in Black.
Originally ordered 2 sizes with a plan to return a pair, but was so impressed with them i just exchanged for another colour.
Closed to the original “Shelly’s” in both style and equally important, ,the comfort!!!

I must admit, I had a couple of doubts before ordering these shoes. Firstly, I was concerned that the chisel toe wouldn’t suit a bowling shoe and secondly, being white, I thought they’d look a bit too ‘rock star’.
However, I needn’t have worried as the chisel toe makes the shoe look very refined. As for the colour, it makes the shoe look quite sporty and imo a classy alternative to white trainers. As to the ‘rock star’ appearance, they look more like something Bruce Foxton would wear, rather than Bono, so thumbs up there.
Encouraged by all of this, I showed them off to my better half who initially had some slight misgivings. She thought they looked too ‘shoe like’ and not ‘trainer-ish’ enough to be made in bright white. However, she was convinced of their suitability as soon as she saw me wearing them and gave them her ‘seal of approval’ right away.
The leather is butter soft straight out the box. I was a bit taken in by this and made the mistake of wearing them all day for the first time without socks, doing a lot of walking. Not surprisingly, I developed some mild blisters on both my heels. My fault entirely – I was asking for trouble. With socks though, they’ve been fine ever since and no more blisters now.
Wore them out them out to the pub and thought I might get a few digs from my mates as, sadly, their idea of a good shoe is a New Balance ‘Dad Trainer’. However, the only comment I got was that they looked sharp.
Being a biker, I’m no stranger to grime and I’ve found that a bit of WD40 on a cloth soon cleans off any pavement dirt and keeps them looking fresh. Chucking the white laces in the washing machine cleans them up nicely.
All in all, these are a dapper alternative to white trainers and look the bee’s knees. I just hope my local cobbler can replace the soft heel when it wears down, as I can see myself wearing these shoes a lot.
