Flared jeans, inspired by the bell-bottomed pants of U.S. Navy sailors, first made a splash in the late 1960s and early 1970s, becoming a powerful countercultural fashion symbol embraced by the hippie and bohemian movements. They represented a bold rejection of mainstream style and were often paired with vibrant colours, bold patterns, platform shoes, and even baseball boots like our Woody.
This style flourished throughout the ’70s, epitomizing the era’s laid-back, rebellious vibe, especially among Northern Soul dancers and iconic rock bands like Led Zeppelin. The distinct 23-inch flare, subtly narrowed at the knee (but not as drastic as bell bottoms), gave them ours a unique, flattering silhouette. Today, flared jeans are back in rotation with a modern twist, loved for their leg-lengthening effect and worn-in, faded look that effortlessly channels that classic ’70s vibe.

Sizing
When purchasing, we recommend measuring your waist. Many famous brands use vanity sizing, so while you might have been a ’28″‘ years ago, it’s likely you’re not anymore! Personally, I have a bit of a belly, and these jeans sit comfortably on the hips with a mid-rise cut. As you can in the pictures they are from a skinny fit at top so if in doubt size up.
