The Scorcher May Version
These are a combination of 2 popular styles. The Scorcher has been a great shoe and liked by lots of people trying to find a early 70s style Loafers, i.e nice and square fronted. The May was a Box Top shoe we did and this also went down really well with customers. You can guess what someone said, when are the Scorchers getting the Box Top / Weave effect on them. So here they are , yes we are supper chuffed
Scorcher >>>>
They are based exactly like the late 60s early 70s one. They have leather uppers, and man made sole, which is just like the ones we used as our source.
The leather is super soft on these and will not take hardly anytime to wear in.
We think they are great, but hear it direct from someone who should know.

“WOW they are so comfortable & do look the mutts nuts. Much better in the flesh than pics.
I wore them round the shops for a few hours today & they have already started to take shape on the fronts
On the leather, its top quality in the fact it’s stiff but easy to wear ( no blister so far ) im happy ?
Size wize im an 11 & these are 11s……& they fit me ok, a bit loose but thats how i like my shoes to fit, so you may need to go down a size if you after a tight fitting shoe.
For the money you are getting a very good quality shoe that looks just as good as the 70s frank wrights of yester-year today.
?
Now im saving for a black pair”
SIZING
In terms of Sizing they are generous, meaning go down, not up, if unsure. These will grow up to 1/4 of inch after about 6 hours. When trying on please allow 15 mins for your foot to heat the shoes a bit, this will make the leather supple and comfy very quickly.
Sizes 6 – 12
Also in Oxblood.
Mens Sizing
We use the following size conversions. Please be aware that different designs are designed to be bigger than others. We try our best on the product page to mention sizing.
Men’s Sizes
UK | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 |
Euro | 40 | 41 | 42 | 43 | 44 | 45 | 46 |
US | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | 13 |
Please Note that are shoes are made mainly in Spain & Portugal and Euro to UK Conversion means that the shoes normally come up a little big. The reason is that a 43, is more like 9 and 1/4.

Mod Shoes! My new favourite store. Between myself and my wife we’ve bought a good few things from here over the last year or so and couldn’t be happier with the service and quality. The latest purchase – oxblood Scorchers May version – are superb quality and look so good! I found I needed to go down a size from 10 to 9 and, for me, stick a heel grip in there, too, but the effort was well worth it. Excellent products across the store and great people to deal with.

Great shoes , great colour , great fit , extremely comfortable .
I had a slight issue when I received my shoes but I have to say ‘ModShoes team’ were willing to fix this for me and I chose to sort it out myself . Said issue was what I believe to have been glue left over from the manufacture of the shoes . It came off easily and when I applied polish there were no residual Marks at all so I’m glad I made the choice I did .
I love these shoes they are so easy to wear and I’ve worn them twice for full and long days with no issues in the comfort dept .
They polish well and in my opinion at least look great with casual and formal gear . I wore them once with a suit and I was very happy with the look .
I’m a sucker for a basket weave and these fit the bill perfectly . I love the squarer toe and it’s not over stated , just perfect for my taste .
The man made sole holds no issue for me . I do really like leather soles shoes but let’s face it in wet weather they have their disadvantages . In the UK we get plenty of rain so synthetic soles will do for me . Anyone loooking at the shoes wont know the soles aren’t leather …….are they ?
Top marks all round folks .
PS to whom do I suggest adding a square toe to the JA’s ?

They look fantastic. The fit is true to size. They feel comfortable only had them a few days so not worn in yet. The quality is top notch. Although a bit pricey they look like the are made to last so money well spent
