The Fresco is inspired by vintage trainers and cycling shoes. It has always been a desire of Mod Shoes to have a retro trainer in our collection. As much as we love shoes, we also love the simplicity of the old school trainers and cycling shoes.

There were many considerations behind the development of the Fresco, a major one being footwear that is smart to wear when you need to be casual. For those times when you are popping to the pub, going shopping, or out for the day with mates. Also we wanted something that was “old school”. Some high street brands do the odd retro styling, but then make it in tiny numbers, at limited shops, so that 99% of us don’t get a look in. If they do make a retro style, their designers always tweak it and try to appeal to both retro and modern. Our thoughts were it must look old and be as simple but as cool as possible.

If you are wondering about the name, Fresco is an Northern Italian town, it means ‘Cool’ in Spanish and is also the name of a Lambretta exhaust from back in the day! We thought it fitted perfectly.

The Frescos are true to size, made of good leather requiring little wearing in. The sample ones I wore solidly for 4 months, and they still going strong. To say we are pleased with the results is an understatement.

Each pair comes with 2 sets of laces , so that you can decide on what you like best.

In terms of styling , they are perfect with with jeans or shorts. You may notice that we have teamed them up with Gabicci tops, but there are loads of tops that the range of colours will work well with.

Colour > The colour on these is white, but please be aware that the white is not ‘Pure White’ i.e. Brilliant white, more a slightly off white, in keeping with the retro feel of these trainers.

These are pretty good for sizing, I am 8.5 and would wear an 8 in these. They wear in quickly and of course become more subtle

Please Note that are shoes are made mainly in Spain & Portugal and Euro to UK Conversion means that the shoes normally come up a little big. The reason is that a 43, is more like 9 and 1/4.
