The “Ricco” is inspired by a pair of vintage ‘Bowling Shoes’ the MD of Mod Shoes sourced many years ago.
He always wanted to recreate them, but with a trainer sole
As much as we love smart shoes, we also love the simplicity and casual styling of the old school trainers
There were many considerations behind the development of the Luca, a major one being the desire to create footwear that is still looks stylish when you are dressing casually. For those times when you are popping to the pub, going shopping, or out for the day with mates. Also we wanted something that was “old school”. Some high street brands do the odd retro styling, but then make it in tiny numbers, at limited shops, so that 99% of us don’t get a look in. If they do make a retro style, their designers always tweak it and try to appeal to both retro and modern. Our thoughts were it must look authentic and be as simple but as cool as possible.
The Ricco is true to size, made of good leather requiring little wearing in. To say we are pleased with the results is an understatement.
In terms of styling , they are perfect with with jeans or shorts. You may notice that we have teamed them up with Gabicci tops, but there are loads of tops that the range of colours will work well with.
Sizing Advice – These are roomy, i am 8.5 and had an 8, they wore extremely quickly. After a few days very very comfortable. One of the staff here at Mod Shoes agrees they are easily our most comfortable trainer yet, and he especially likes the padded inner

Please Note that are shoes are made mainly in Spain & Portugal and Euro to UK Conversion means that the shoes normally come up a little big. The reason is that a 43, is more like 9 and 1/4.

I have been ordering items from Mod Shoes for a while now on behalf of my son.
He is normally a UK size 7 in most styles but your sizes are so big, we tried a 6 ? too big and unfortunately you have no size 5 for ba grown up foot??

Quite simply, if the mod look is your thing, these are by far the best trainers out there. I usually wear 60/70s classic/retro Adidas and Gola, but, in terms of style, the Riccos are a cut above these, and work much better with the slightly smarter end of mod casual (knitted polo shirts, tootal scarves, button down shirts, etc) than standard sports brands. And, in addition to looking sleek and stylish, they’re beautifully made and very comfortable. Now, I’m just waiting for the white ones to become available in my size!
p.s I’ve just bought the 66 Clothing monkey jacket in royal blue and they look magnifficent together.
